Redknapp puts pressure on Hodgson
The former manager of Queens Park Rangers, Harry Redknapp believes that Roy Hodgson has to at least reach the semi-finals of the 2016 Euro’s and if he doesn’t go so far then Hodgson will be considered as a failure.
Harry Redknapp is certain that the England national side has so many good players that they should be able to reach the advanced stages of the international competition.
England’s first match of the 2016 Euro’s will be against Russia on June 11 and 5 days after that they are going to be facing off with Wales. Matchbook have them as slim favourites to win both ties – though the odds reflect how close they expect it to be.
Roy Hodgson is the head coach of the England national football team and he has at his disposal a number of players who are going through a superb form who have been performing very well recently with their respective clubs.
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has scored 18 goals in 25 matches while Raheem Sterling and Ross Barkley are also going through a pretty impressive form. Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is the current top goal-scorer of his club. Harry Kane is another player who can’t be overlooked as the 22 year old star of Tottenham Hotspur is at the top of the goal-scoring list of the Premier League after having found the back of the net on 15 occasions in 25 matches.
Just by taking a look at how all of these English players have been performing in this season, its easy to see why Harry Redknapp has been putting so much pressure on Roy Hodgson and why he told the English manager that he has to make an impressive campaign in the approaching competition as Hodgson has a vast amount of top players who have been showing their worth on a consistent basis.
“We have got some outstanding young players in the country at the moment. I look around at the rest of Europe and I don’t see any great teams. Spain, Italy, are not what they were, Belgium have got great players on paper but don’t seem to produce it as a team. I think we have got as good a chance as anybody this year. I will be disappointed if we don’t make at least the semi-finals.” Harry Redknapp told the media.
