Manchester United boss Solskjaer fires warning to Jesse Lingard
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Jesse Lingard that he needs to produce a better level of performance in order to command a regular starting role next season. The England international had an average 2018/19 season with the Red Devils and he ended the campaign with just five goals across all competitions.
United have already bolstered the squad with the recruitment of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James and the latter has been bought to strengthen the wider attacking department. Nonetheless, the club are still on the hunt for new recruits and reports suggest that they would make at least two more signings before the transfer deadline next month.
Leicester City’s Harry Maguire has recently been touted to make the move to Old Trafford to sort out the club’s concerns at the back. On the other hand, Bruno Fernandes from Sporting has also been eyed with Solskjaer keen on recruiting a creative midfielder. Fernandes had a tremendous 2018/19 season with Sporting where he contributed 32 goals and 18 assists across all competitions for the club. He was also part of Portugal’s success at the Nations League.
