CAN MANCHESTER UNITED WIN THE EUROPA LEAGUE?
English Premier League giants Manchester United are currently in a great position to win the UEFA Europa League title this season after having one foot set in the semi-final of the competition. The Red Devils reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season but fell to a defeat against Spanish club Sevilla and got knocked out of the competition after a not-so-impressive showing.
They recently played the first leg of their quarter-final fixture against Spanish opponents Granada and they secured a much-needed 2-0 win away from home, setting a return leg at Old Trafford with some huge confidence and comfort. A sublime Marcus Rashford goal in the first half of the tie and a stoppage-time penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes handed the Old Trafford outfit their deserved 2-0 win away from home.
Before Granada, United’s last two opponents in the competition were Real Sociedad and AC Milan. They defeated Sociedad 4-0 away from home and beat Milan 1-0 after finishing the first leg 1-1. They have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three away games and are looking like a team with huge confidence.
If they are able to move past Granada in the second leg, and go all the way to the final, then there is a huge chance Solksjær could lift his first trophy as Manchester United manager.
