ENGLAND EXPECTS

The manager of the England national football team, Roy Hodgson, has said that he would be hugely gutted if his team doesn’t manage to qualify for the World Cup 2014 finals in Brazil.

The England team hasn’t been at the top of its game in recent times. They have just managed to win 3 out of the 6 World Cup qualifying matches that they have played so far. They are at the second position in Group H at the moment.

The only positive thing for England is that they still have 4 games remaining and if they show improvement in their performance, they can still turn things around.

When asked about England’s performance in the World Cup qualifiers so far, Hodgson said, “We haven’t lived up to the expectations so far. We were expected to do much better. However, the good thing is that we can still pull things back. There are a handful of games still left and if we play up to our potential, we will end up getting there.”

“It would be a huge disappointment for me if we fail to qualify. The kind of team we have, we must make it to the finals.”

“There is no need to panic at this point of time. We have played some good football in the last couple of games and if we continue doing that, we will be able to overtake Montenegro in the points table.”

Meanwhile, England has moved down to no. 15 in the official rankings of FIFA. This is Three Lions’ lowest ranking in the last 5 years.

England played draws against the lower ranked teams like Republic of Ireland and Brazil off late and that has resulted in them deteriorating in the World rankings.

Just 12 months back, England was at no. 3 in the FIFA rankings.
