HART STRUGGING FUTURE
There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Manchester city goalkeeper Joe Hart in the England national team. The 26-year-old has committed some high profile mistakes in 2013, which could cost him a place in the national team. He is the number one goalkeeper in England right now. A number of players, though, are challenging for his position. Celtic’s first choice goalkeeper Fraser Foster is one among them. He has been touted as the next England goalkeeper, but Foster has revealed that he has not yet heard from Roy Hodgson about his future with the national team.
The former Newcastle United goalkeeper arrived to Celtic in a £ 2 million deal a few years ago and he has quickly established himself as the number one goalkeeper in the Scottish league right now. He recently made a string of excellent saves against Barcelona, which almost helped Celtic grab a point against the Spanish club in the Champions League. Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that he is resigned to losing Foster, as he cannot hope to retain such a quality goalkeeper for long amidst interest from a number of top clubs in Europe.
The 25-year-old has a contract with Celtic until the end of 2016, and it is looking like he may be sold in the summer.
“It’s going to be impossible to keep Fraser, the way he’s playing. Inevitably, I think a huge club will come in and make a huge bid for him. Sometimes it is frustrating as a manager, as you are trying to build something, trying to progress the club, but I think it is a huge compliment about what we have done over the last two or three years and it has really put the club on the map again,” said Neil Lennon.
